  • The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County will host Give4Marion on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 16 and 17—an annual 33-hour fundraiser that brings donors, businesses and over 100 nonprofits together to support local agencies and surpass last year’s $3 million. Matching gift moments and Power Hour prizes will help multiply donations as participating groups prepare to meet community needs.  Ocala Gazette

  • Law enforcement in Dunnellon is asking the public for help finding Pamela McCutcheon—78—with early-stage dementia who was last seen at 7:30 a.m. on August 30 in the front yard of her home at 9321 SW 153rd Lane; she wore a light blue tank top and light blue pants.  Ocala-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida insurance regulators announced fines of over $2 million for eight companies that mishandled claims after Hurricanes Ian and Idalia. The fines—ranging from $50,000 to $400,000—address failures such as not paying or denying claims within 90 days and signal continued state efforts to ensure insurers honor their promises.  Ocala StarBanner
