GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • 18 new recruits earned their Firefighter I and II certifications on Dec. 19 at Florida State Fire College in Ocala — after the holidays, they will start EMT training at the College of Central Florida as part of their journey to join Marion County Fire Rescue.  Ocala-News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A proposal to build 329 single-family homes in Silver Springs Shores (Fawn Lake Estates) is set for review by the Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday, Dec. 29. County staff cited transportation concerns and a Board hearing is scheduled Jan. 20 after a traffic study.  Ocala-News
