- ➤ Ocala City Council will vote Tuesday, Dec. 16 on a request from the Ocala Sunset Rotary Club to designate a historic marker at 117 East Silver Springs Boulevard commemorating when 10-year-old Tom Petty met Elvis Presley during the filming of Follow That Dream in July 1961. Ocala-News

- ➤ Local leaders are set to propose a veterans’ hall of fame that will honor county veterans for their military service and community work. The measure will be discussed at the county commissioners meeting Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the McPherson Governmental Complex and if approved, nominations will open immediately until 25 nominees are received or Jan. 31.
