- ➤ A county spokesperson said more than 750 customers at the Ocala Preserve off US 27 must follow a precautionary boil water notice issued today—officials are monitoring water quality to ensure safety. WCJB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Osceola Middle School held a centennial celebration on October 2 that marked 100 years since it opened as Ocala High School in 1925 and 60 years since it desegregated—Historic Ocala Preservation Society presented a plaque that lets visitors scan a QR code to learn more at its Tuscawilla Avenue location. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state has activated two new pedestrian hybrid beacons on SR 200 in Ocala—one located between SW 32nd and SW 26th Avenues and the other between SW 12th and SW 10th Avenues—to improve pedestrian safety; a third beacon will be activated next week as part of a project that includes resurfacing, raised concrete medians, and updated traffic signals along the corridor. - ➤ Earlier this week, Ocala City Council approved a five-year, $549,000 contract to update city websites and add an AI chat tool—designed to answer residents' questions with city-approved data.
