  • An Ocala tenant filed a lawsuit on August 19 against her landlord at a rental on SW 40th Place—alleging that on September 30, she slipped on exterior tiles she claims were dangerously slick and is now seeking over $50,000 in damages.  Ocala-News

  • Jennifer Hatchett, 47, claimed a $1 million prize on May 8 after she bought a $50 scratch-off ticket from Medical Food Mart in Ocala+ she opted for a lump sum payout of $640,000.  Ocala-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ocala Fire Rescue put a new rescue vehicle into service on Monday at Station 7, equipping all seven stations with both engine and rescue units to deliver advanced life support services. The vehicle—Rescue 7—was introduced during a ceremonial push-in and will strengthen emergency response across the city.  Ocala-News
  • Congressman Randy Fine introduced H.R. 4656 on July 23 to study whether a new Florida Springs National Park that includes Ocala National Forest and other areas can be created—officials will review the area’s significance, alternatives, and costs with study results expected within three years after funds are available.  Ocala-News
