  • On Aug 20, an FHP trooper arrested 25-year-old Michael Mario Rojas at a Marion Oaks residence after he allegedly pointed a loaded 9mm handgun at a driver during a road rage incident on I-75—he was released on Aug 21 after posting a $2,000 bond.  Ocala StarBanner
  • On August 20, Shaquita Thompson filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Ocala Police Department and other defendants after her 26-year-old son, James Alexander Thompson, Jr., died on August 26 when a speeding driver fled a DUI accident scene while he was taking photos— the suit claims that officers failed to secure the scene properly and that the family is seeking over $50,000 in damages.  Ocala-News
