- ➤ A longtime radio host—Robin MacBlane—died on Saturday from injuries sustained in a car accident that also killed her co-host Larry Whitler when a truck ran a red light last month in Ocala. WCJB
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Marion County man (32-year-old) fired a gun outside his home after his wife found nude photos of a female co-worker on his cellphone and was arrested for recklessly discharging a firearm; he will appear in court on August 20 at 1 p.m. Ocala-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Marion County Public Schools has hired over 480 new teachers for 46,195 students who start classes today. Elementary students will begin on a staggered schedule and about 23,000 students will ride 250 buses to campus. Ocala-News
- ➤ The Stuff the Bus and Mission: Bus Brigade drives wrapped up recently, collecting school supplies for needy students heading into the 2025-26 school year—local volunteers and county employees helped support over 6,700 students through MCPS and a charter school. The Mission: Bus Brigade drive recorded 23,872 collected items while volunteers for Stuff the Bus delivered backpacks loaded with supplies to every MCPS elementary and middle school. Ocala Gazette

She filed a lawsuit in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court alleging negligence by Dr. Rushi S. Patel and seeks over $50,000 in damages after receiving further treatment at UF Health at Shands.
