CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Marion County deputies discovered a dying man with a gunshot wound at Northeast 54th Place in Silver Springs Saturday evening—after he was pronounced dead at the scene, they began investigating the shooting. WCJB
- ➤ A Marion County man, identified as 33-year-old Ebbonee Mathis, was charged with aggravated assault after he threatened to stab a person and kicked down a door—he was booked into jail Friday morning following a search by an air unit and K-9 team. WCJB
- ➤ Ivan Rondon—an Ocala man from Marion Oaks—filed a federal lawsuit on July 29 against the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and jail, alleging he was detained for two days despite posting a $25,000 bond, was racially traumatized, and was denied prescribed medications for schizophrenia and anxiety which worsened his condition.
