- ➤ An 82-year-old Ocala woman sued Cody’s Original Roadhouse after slipping on a margarita spill on May 16 when a waitress did not clean the floor properly—she now seeks over $50,000 in damages for her permanent injuries. Ocala-News

- ➤ An unattended body was discovered along Waldo Road and Northeast 16th Street on Friday evening—local law enforcement began investigating the scene. WCJB
- ➤ The state dismissed charges against Jacob Carmack, accused of leaving the scene after a street racing crash on State Road 200 near Southwest 80th Street in Marion County, because a key witness was unavailable to testify—avoiding a trial that was set to begin days later. WCJB
- ➤ Reddick resident Alfred Charles Denmark, Jr. pleaded guilty on April 22 to charges of fentanyl and cocaine distribution and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber to 20 years in federal prison — law enforcement said his case involved large-scale drug trafficking. Ocala-News

- ➤ Lake Louise, LLC—owned by John and Shirley Rudnianyn—filed a dispute with the state as attorney Robert W. Batsel claims that county officials unlawfully denied their request to rezone a 9.51-acre site for 151 additional apartments adjacent to an approved 869-unit project. The mediation process will be discussed at the county board meeting on Tuesday, August 5 at 9 a.m. at the McPherson Governmental Complex. Ocala-News
