- ➤ Arlena Jones filed a lawsuit on July 14 in Marion County against truck driver Charles Sidney Copeland II and Beecher Cross Farms, LLC after a collision on SR 200 near the I-75 interchange in Ocala on March 21 that left her with serious and permanent injuries and more than $50,000 in damages. - ➤ James Eldon Long filed a lawsuit on July 10 against Publix at the Grand Oaks Town Center after his cane hit a shelf and he fell on October 11, injuring his head — left hip — and left knee, and he is seeking over $50,000 in damages amid similar claims at local Publix stores. Ocala-News

- ➤ Students at Challenger 7 Elementary in Brevard County returned to a year-round pilot program that shortens summer break by three weeks while keeping 180 school days—this is the program’s second year of a four-year trial.
