- ➤ On Monday afternoon, Ocala Fire Rescue rescued a man and his dog from a duplex on the 400 block of Southeast 15th Terrace after a large tree fell on the structure during a storm at about 4:21 p.m.—the occupants were unharmed despite significant damage to the rear of the home. ClickOrlando

- ➤ A Marion County school board faces a lawsuit after a mother said her 10-year-old adopted son with special needs was allegedly molested by another student at Belleview Santos Elementary—she claims the school did not tell her about the repeated incidents. Ocala-News
- ➤ A former Ocala coach, Roosevelt Overstreet, was sentenced to 15 years for sexually abusing underage victims — he now has an appeals attorney after his request for a public defender was granted — following his jury conviction earlier this month. WCJB

- ➤ TamBoura Jenkins, a longtime Ocala resident with decades of experience in healthcare and real estate, is running for the District 3 seat on Ocala City Council in the election on September 16. - ➤ Marion County government announced funding from the last legislative session for three local projects—the Lowell Municipal Drinking Water Project received $1 million to begin planning for a safe water system in an area with soil contaminated by chemicals used at the nearby fire college, NW 49th Street improvements secured $2 million and will start construction early next year, and the Bradford-Ma Barker House project was given $237,500 as officials plan to seek additional funds.
