ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Marion County Fire Rescue saved twelve dogs after a fire burned a double-wide mobile home on the 11000 block of NE 230th Street in Ft. McCoy Friday night — no one was hurt and investigators are checking the cause. FOX 35 Orlando
- ➤ An accident on I-75 near Exit 354—State Road 27 closed two lanes when a semi truck collided with a passenger vehicle yesterday, and no injuries were reported. WCJB
- ➤ A Pinellas resident sued Walmart in Ocala after she slipped on a liquid substance at the store on October 21, 2023—her complaint, filed on June 16, alleges that the fall caused permanent injuries, pain, lost wages and other damages exceeding $50,000. Ocala-News
- ➤ Marion County firefighters saved 12 dogs when a burning mobile home near Fort McCoy threatened a nearby camper and dog kennels on Friday night as they deployed hose lines and brought the fire under control before 10 p.m. ClickOrlando

- ➤ Kingdom Dance Academy will open later this month at 1903 SE 58th Avenue in southeast Ocala, replacing Baseline Market that closed in January and planning its grand opening on July 21. Owner Leah Lytle, with 18 years of dance experience, will offer dance and aerial classes for all ages—sharing her skill and passion with the local community. Ocala-News

- ➤ A study by WalletHub will rank Ocala as one of the least educated cities when its report is published Monday — the city is set to rank 139th overall and last for quality of education and the attainment gap. Ocala-News
- ➤ Thomas Butler, Homeless Liaison for Marion County Public Schools, launched the Mission: Bus Brigade school supply drive on July 1—aimed at collecting supplies for students in need. The drive will run through July and donated items from several county offices will be given to the School Board on August 5. WCJB

- ➤ At the Dunnellon festival, food trucks and live music helped raise funds to support cleanup of the Rainbow River. Organized by One Rake at a Time, the event will remove invasive plants from the river’s lower section — the area with the worst damage. WCJB
