  • Mary Sue Rich Community Center will host Rec it Studio for free family games and activities on Friday, June 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.—future sessions are set for July 18, August 15, September 19, October 17, and November 21.  Ocala-News
  • Ocala semi truck drivers gave their trucks a massive makeover to raise thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish at the Road to Wishes Truck Show. Organizers say the event highlights strong local support for children in need.  WCJB

CRIME NEWS

  • Marion County woman Cherokee Marie Spaulding, 33, was arrested Tuesday, June 10 at Publix in Dunnellon for allegedly shoplifting over $300 in goods and possessing meth when drug paraphernalia was found in her purse—she now faces charges and is held on a $5,500 bond.  Ocala-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • During the weekend in Ocala, members of the Sons of the American Revolution’s Withlacoochee Chapter brought history to life by setting up George Washington’s war tent—displaying artifacts, weapons, and his pistol—and having reenactors portray figures like Deborah Sampson for local visitors. Organizers said the event is the first of its kind in Florida and hope it will help locals learn from the past.  WCJB
