Good morning, Ocala.

Marion County and Ocala firefighters worked together to control a house fire on Northeast 19th Avenue on Wednesday morning after multiple 911 calls, and all occupants safely left the building - the cause is under investigation.

An Ocala man, Moshe Josue Delgado Juarez, 25, is accused of using his car to hit a Volusia County deputy during an undercover online sex sting—Operation Travel to Gavel that netted 14 arrests and charged him with aggravated battery and assault on law enforcement officers.

Ocala has a busy schedule with a Billy Joel tribute concert at 7:30 p.m. on June 13 at Reilly Arts Center and a live fundraiser at the Civic Theatre later the same evening.

Additional events include jazz and comedy shows on June 14, a Revolutionary War exhibit in Veterans Memorial Park on June 14 and 15, and a summer film series and art displays running into July.

Arts in Health Ocala Metro and The Arc of Marion will host a live sing-along fundraiser on June 13 at the Ocala Civic Theater with acclaimed musicians including Becky Baby, Meagan Miles, David Reinwald, and Brandon Dull—VIP attendees will enter at 6 p.m. for an early viewing and purchase of paintings by Arc clients—supporting services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The family of Angela Don Wood, a Marion County mother who died at 45 from heart surgery complications, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against AdventHealth Ocala on April 25 alleging that staff discharged her without extra testing despite signs of worsening metabolic acidosis — they seek damages over $50,000.

Ocala residents can try outdoor activities like swimming at local pools, tubing on Rainbow River, and kayaking on Silver River, especially when a cool day comes along.

The guide also suggests flat hikes at local parks and trails while reminding everyone to stay safe and well hydrated in the summer heat—if the weather is calm enough.
