ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Marion County and Ocala firefighters worked together to control a house fire on Northeast 19th Avenue on Wednesday morning after multiple 911 calls, and all occupants safely left the building - the cause is under investigation.  WCJB

CRIME NEWS

  • An Ocala man, Moshe Josue Delgado Juarez, 25, is accused of using his car to hit a Volusia County deputy during an undercover online sex sting—Operation Travel to Gavel that netted 14 arrests and charged him with aggravated battery and assault on law enforcement officers.  Ocala StarBanner

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ocala has a busy schedule with a Billy Joel tribute concert at 7:30 p.m. on June 13 at Reilly Arts Center and a live fundraiser at the Civic Theatre later the same evening. Additional events include jazz and comedy shows on June 14, a Revolutionary War exhibit in Veterans Memorial Park on June 14 and 15, and a summer film series and art displays running into July.  Ocala StarBanner

  • The family of Angela Don Wood, a Marion County mother who died at 45 from heart surgery complications, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against AdventHealth Ocala on April 25 alleging that staff discharged her without extra testing despite signs of worsening metabolic acidosis — they seek damages over $50,000.  Ocala-News
