  • TV20's David Snyder is tracking several key stories across North Central Florida this week—former Gator Jac Caglianone has joined the Kansas City Royals, hurricane season begins today with residents preparing, and officials are investigating fatal crashes near Ocala and in Ocklawaha. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver in a Mazda minivan died early Sunday on U.S. 441 when his vehicle, moving at high speed and reportedly driven recklessly, left the road, struck a culvert and overturned — police said he was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • A woman died after her car went off the road, hit an amber warning sign, and struck a tree on County Road 450 in Umatilla — she was taken to an Ocala hospital — according to Florida Highway Patrol.  WCJB

CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies responded around 3 a.m. Saturday to a shooting on the 3900 block of Southeast Maricamp Road where three people in a car were shot and taken to the hospital—no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.  WCJB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today marks the start of the hurricane season and residents across North Central Florida are preparing by stocking up on supplies and cutting trees to guard against falling branches. City leaders urge everyone to remain alert and educate themselves on what to do before, during, and after storms.  WCJB

  • SW 38th Ave Apartments is under construction at 2300 SW 38th Ave in southwest Ocala and will add 432 new rental units near Interstate 75—close to Bedrock Dogwood Acres Mobile Home Park.
