- ➤ A developer is seeking a permit to build a 141-bed skilled nursing and memory care facility on a nearly 10-acre lot along State Road 200 in unincorporated Ocala—plans call for a one-story building with 115 parking spaces under the Ashton Health brand. Kenneth L. Tobin will present the proposal to the Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Governmental Complex. Ocala-News
- ➤ Residents and city officials criticized the recent changes on State Road 200, saying FDOT’s installation of raised concrete medians has increased traffic congestion while its goal was to boost safety—officials noted the city helped address some issues despite not controlling the road. FDOT explained the upgrades, including segmented turn lanes and pedestrian beacons, are meant to reduce dangerous movements and conflict points. Ocala-News
- ➤ A well-known developer behind the World Equestrian Center is asking Marion County planning officials for a positive recommendation to build a new sports and entertainment complex that would include an indoor arena—fields, courts, a restaurant, a hotel and a food truck park.
