- ➤ A 25-year-old convicted felon from Ocala was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase from a Wendy’s parking lot on E Silver Springs Boulevard which ended when his car rolled over a wooden fence at a local apartment complex—he now faces over a dozen charges and will appear in court on Tuesday, June 10. - ➤ Belleview resident Amy Linn Ramirez, 49, was sentenced to five years in prison for filing a fraudulent deed to claim a foreclosed property—she was found guilty on May 16. Ocala-News
- ➤ Judge Brad King sentenced two Florida parents to jail for not sending their children to school, with one parent receiving a six-month term and the other 90 days (the absences totaled 120 and 63 days) and both will return to court today at 9 a.m. ClickOrlando

- ➤ Ocala Geek Fest will take place at the Downtown Market this Sunday, May 25 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.—the family-friendly event features over 60 vendors offering comics, collectibles, cosplay contests, tabletop games, and food trucks with live entertainment. - ➤ At an Ocala meeting on May 21, the FWC voted 4-1 to approve amendments to bear hunt advertising rules, sparking a heated debate between activists and hunters who dispute the hunt's need and ethics — final rules will be determined at the August meeting with a 23-day hunt set for December if approved. - ➤ Former deputy David Ur filed a lawsuit against the Marion County Sheriff’s Office alleging that after he reported racist remarks made by his superior, the agency retaliated by forcing him to modify official reports. His attorney asserts the investigation shifted from the alleged racism to targeting Ur & the suit seeks damages and a halt to further retaliatory actions. WCJB
- ➤ Marion County officials issued a boil water notice for residents in Hunter’s Trace & Pine Ridge Estates in Ocala on Thursday night as utility workers repaired a main water line. Impacted customers received an official email with the notice details. WCJB
