- ➤ A 22-year-old Tampa man was arrested in Ocala after a grandmother discovered him in bed with her 13-year-old granddaughter, and he faces charges of lewd or lascivious battery, use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, and possession of child pornography—he is set to appear in court on May 20 at 9 a.m. Ocala-News

- ➤ State officials will host an open house Thursday, May 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn to explain proposed improvements at the NW 8th St and Pine Ave intersection that will add a two-way directional median and extend turn lanes. Design work will begin early 2026 with a $50,000 cost and construction is set to start late 2026 at an estimated cost of $200,000—steps aimed at improving traffic flow and safety. Ocala-News

- ➤ Ocala-based Lake Louise, LLC has proposed to rezone a nearly 10-acre site in southwest Ocala to add 151 apartment units next to 869 previously approved units—county staff noted potential issues with water, sewer and fire rescue services.
