- ➤ Mercy Homeless Shelter is updating its facility by replacing 28 motel rooms with 79 one-bedroom units that have kitchens and appliances — Executive Director Penny Beehler said the project will reopen the pantry and expand in-house services, with the homes set to open in December. WCJB
- ➤ Hospice of Marion County Foundation received an $8,500 donation from the Women of the World Club after its annual charity fashion show last month to support the Hope Renovation Project. The funds will help create a new adult day program (active brain engagement) and resource library for seniors with dementia. WCJB
- ➤ Marion County Animal Services is asking volunteers to join the Pack Walk on Sunday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Silver Springs State Park — where locals can walk adoptable shelter dogs for a two-dollar park entry fee and may stay until 5:30 p.m. Ocala-News

- ➤ Marion County deputies are searching for Delvon Amil Thornton—accused of running over a 66-year-old woman with a go-kart during an argument—after authorities discovered she had visible wounds and broken teeth. Ocala-News
- ➤ A traffic stop in Richland, Mississippi on April 24 ended with 77-year-old Abdullah Chetin of Ocala dead after he shot at an officer from his RV—sparking an exchange of gunfire—while another officer was injured in a separate car accident; the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
