- ➤ On Saturday, library staff opened a new Seed Library at Marion County Library Headquarters located at 2720 E Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala—this service offers free seeds and gardening information for residents. - ➤ On April 17, 2025, 55 volunteers from HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital served at Interfaith Emergency Services in Ocala during National Volunteer Month to meet local needs. - ➤ Ocala deputies conducted Operation Best Foot Forward Tuesday morning near Cherry Estates Community Center to remind drivers to yield at crosswalks—those who fail to stop may get a $164 citation and three points added to their license. The safety initiative by Bike/Walk Central Florida is part of a statewide effort that has already increased the driver yield rate from 40% to 56%. WCJB
- ➤ On Saturday, April 19, Marion County deputies arrested 27-year-old Reddick resident Kasaan Kalik Patterson at the public library after a librarian reported he was masturbating — he is scheduled to appear in court on April 30 at 1 p.m. Ocala-News
