  • On Top of the World Communities, LLC filed a waiver with the Marion County Development Review Committee to create The Nest in Calesa Township in southwest Ocala, an outdoor venue with an amphitheater, beer garden, food truck village, tap room, and coffee house. The project is planned near local landmarks (Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training facility and Ina A. Colen Academy) and awaits review at a meeting Monday at 9 a.m.  Ocala-News

  • A man died after he was hit by a white 2025 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound on US-441 on Friday afternoon.  WCJB

  • Ocala’s Earthfest celebrated sustainability as it brought community members together for outdoor activities including tree climbing, a rock climbing wall, and a clothing swap. Eco-friendly vendors, food trucks, free plant and tree giveaways, and live music raised local environmental awareness and helped animal rescue groups promote a greener future—engaging families in sustainability efforts.  WCJB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida’s Operation Best Foot Forward will start on Tuesday, April 22 and run until Friday, May 2 as undercover officers ticket drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians at crosswalks near parks and trails in nine Central Florida counties — those drivers will face a minimum $164 fine and three points on their license.  Ocala StarBanner
