- ➤ On April 4, many volunteers from Lockheed Martin Corp. of Ocala and Rebuild Together helped fix up the home of disabled Navy veteran John MacLaren (and his wife Hope). The project made important repairs to his property and showed local support for our veteran. Ocala Gazette
- ➤ The Marion County Public Library will open its new seed library at 10:30 a.m. on April 19 at its headquarters at 2720 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala — a center for garden and plant lovers to explore seeds and gardening tools. The event will provide resources for both beginners and experienced gardeners. Ocala Gazette
- ➤ Erika De La Cruz saw TikTok posts using the hashtag #winterboots—designed to bypass the app’s rules—that asked about organizing protests in Ocala, and she helped form the Ocala Blue Dots to unite local activists to influence policy. Ocala Gazette
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A barn on the Roberts family property in Reddick burned in the early morning hours of April 8, killing 21 horses when the roof collapsed — Marion County Fire Rescue arrived at 4:13 a.m. and brought the fire under control by 5:13 a.m. while investigators work to determine its cause. - ➤ A 62-year-old Ocala man was arrested on April 7 at the Pilot Travel Center near Arby’s after he admitted to exposing himself while watching pornography in the drive-thru—deputies also found a glass pipe near him that tested positive for cocaine residue. Ocala-News

- ➤ On Apr. 9th, Horse Capital TV featured TerraNova Equestrian Center with dressage races—plus other equine events for local fans in our horse capital. WCJB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, Marion County Fire Rescue opened Citra Station #2 at 2189 NE 180th Lane in Citra, replacing the old fire station. The 4386 square foot station has three vehicle bays, improved living quarters, and a Safe Haven Baby Box built by CPPI Construction using penny sales tax funds and land donated by the Citra Improvement Society — a move that will help firefighters serve the community better.
