  • On April 1, Belleview officials approved Judy Trout Realty’s plan to add a horse-themed mural on its building at 4925 SE Abshier Boulevard near the 110th Street intersection. The mural—measuring 24 feet by 9 feet—shows a family of horses grazing on a green pasture as it is painted around a preexisting sign.  Ocala-News

CRIME NEWS

  • Ocala man Lance Wesley Tidwell, 63, was arrested Thursday night after allegedly firing a gun at his neighbor during an airboat dispute—he faces two felony charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is scheduled for a court hearing on May 6 at 9 a.m.  WCJB
  • The family of 73-year-old disabled Vietnam veteran Dennis J. Di Genova, Sr.—whose death in Marion County custody was ruled a homicide—filed a lawsuit on April 2 in the U.S. Middle District Court against Sheriff Billy Woods and deputies Jason Lester, Charles Cici, and Justin Douglas, alleging they used deadly force, pepper spray, and tasers improperly before leaving him on a cell floor for two days and seeking over $75,000 in damages.  Ocala-News

  • AC Fitzpatrick, a former Ocala and UF volleyball star, performed the national anthem on Saturday at the Final Four ahead of Florida’s basketball game with Auburn.   • Florida basketball will face Houston on Monday night at 8:50 p.m. in the national title game of the NCAA Tournament. After rallying from behind in earlier rounds, the Gators are predicted to win 69-63 and claim their third national title.  Ocala StarBanner
  • The Florida Gators will play the Houston Cougars in the national championship game tomorrow at 8:50 p.m. ET on CBS—Florida earned its spot with a win over Auburn and Houston reached the final after a close victory over Duke.  WCJB
