  • Today, the Senior Resource Foundation of Ocala held its first-ever Great Book Sale at the Paddock Place Mall offering over 1,000 books for as low as 50 cents—featuring nearly 2,000 books overall—and the proceeds will benefit Marion County Animal Services.  WCJB

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Day To Remember, Ocala’s most famous band, released its eighth studio album—Big Ole Album Vol. 1—on streaming platforms on March 21. The album follows the hit song City of Ocala and features singles that reached high spots on digital charts.  Ocala-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Marion County residents voted to name the newest horse deputy for the sheriff’s mounted unit 'Justice' — a name chosen for strength and service. The mounted unit, active for over 60 years and meeting on the first Tuesday of each month — trains twice each month and appears at local events.  Ocala-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marion County officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Rotary Sportsplex in Ocala to start upgrades that include a new synthetic turf, a paved parking lot and a pavilion—steps that will improve player safety and reduce environmental impacts for local sports organizations.  Ocala-News
